Roxanne Banks Malia is a daughter, wife, mother, poet, educator, and youth advocate. She believes that through reading, writing, and sharing stories and poems—their own, their peers’, and those from the great conversations that are Literature and Poetry—children and teens develop empathy, resilience, and a sense of community and belonging. Before joining Lighthouse, she taught English and creative writing in high school and college classrooms, served as the literacy program coordinator at a local high school, and was a stay-at-home mom. Her poems have appeared in Copper Nickel, CutBank, DIAGRAM, and elsewhere. The anthology she co-edited, All the Lives We Ever Lived, Vol. 2 (Lighthouse Writers Workshop), was nominated for the 2022 Colorado Book Award. Her film productions have appeared on Colorado's PBS12.
