The Poetry of Prose: Make Your Words Sing
Poetic richness is not confined to poetry; some of our most enduring prose writers are masters of the sonics, pacing, density, and amplitude characteristic of poetry. What can prose writers learn from poets? This talk explores the imbrication of image with story to invite new ways of creating vibrancy in narrative.

Alex Lemon’s most recent books are Feverland: A Memoir in Shards and The Wish Book. He is the author of Happy: A Memoir and three other poetry collections: MosquitoHallelujah Blackout, and Fancy BeastsOr Beauty, a fifth poetry collection, is forthcoming from Milkweed Editions. His writing has appeared in Esquire, American Poetry Review, The Huffington Post, Ploughshares, Best American Poetry, Tin House, Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast, AGNI, New England Review, The Southern Review, Grist, and jubilat, among others.
