How to Make a (Darn Good) Living as a Freelance Writer

Freelance Writing

What? Freelance writers with disposable income? It's not crazy talk. Buy stuff you don't really need after you take this course that features fun exercises, helpful handouts, and several proven tips you can put to use immediately to get checks—yes, made out to you—in the mail, and delivered on time.

Doug McPherson, a Denver-area freelance writer approaching 16 years of earning "the folding kind of money," will lead the workshop and cover how to: start your own freelance writing business, create a business plan, identify and tap hidden (but well-paying) markets, generate article ideas, write query letters, and find alternative writing assignments to keep revenue flowing.

"It's a myth that freelance writers have to struggle to make money," McPherson says. "It's something you hear a lot, but if people adopt the right attitude and remain open to all the possibilities of paying markets, they can definitely make a good living."

McPherson adds the workshop will not cover how to write, but rather how to make money as a writer. "The focus will be on techniques and strategies that earn money," he said. "And, it will be fun. So those looking for just another boring class should apply elsewhere."

This class includes a one hour break for lunch.
