Join us as students from 27 Colorado high schools take the stage for the Poetry Out Loud Colorado state finals! Students will recite works of poetry to a live audience, competing for the chance to represent Colorado in the Poetry Out Loud National Finals in Washington, D.C. The first round starts at 3:00 PM; final round performances should begin around 5:30 PM. The competition is free and open to the public!

Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud is a national program that encourages high school students to learn about poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. The aim is to help students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage. In Colorado, Poetry Out Loud is presented by Lighthouse Writers Workshop and Colorado Creative Industries.
