Exploring Prose Poetry for grades 6-8

Description:

"What is poetry and if you know what poetry is what is prose," Gertrude Stein proclaims, suggesting that the distinction between poetry and prose is either unknowable or just not important.  But what happens to a poem when the sentence, rather than the line, becomes the a unit of composition? We’ll explore the prose poem, reading examples and using this fun, freeing form as a vehicle for our own new writing.
