8 Week: Intermediate/Advanced Poetry WorkshopDescription:
This course gives poets an opportunity to work—and receive substantive feedback—on their own poems, while we also learn from modern American poets and ‘steal’ some of their best moves. In addition to an in-depth examination of poems, we’ll cover weekly craft topics and in-class writing experiments. We’ll examine how syntax, sound and sense, voice and diction can help shape a poem’s interest and impact. We’ll fill up our poetic toolbox with strategies, techniques, and wisdom—all while having a blast.
Ideal for those with experience reading, writing, and critiquing poetry. Suggested prerequisite is Poetry 101, Intro to Writing Poetry, or permission of the instructor. To gain permission from the instructor, please send inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
