Jesaka pays her bills as a freelance marketing copywriter and has written for companies large and small, including Boulder Brands, Starbucks, Nordstrom, and Microsoft. One of her favorite “work for hire” jobs was writing and directing short videos as part of a team at Starbucks headquarters in Seattle. She won the Aspen Writers’ Foundation Summer Words Isa and Daniel Shaw Scholarship for Memoir and was a finalist for the 2012 Barbara Deming Memorial Fund for Nonfiction. Jesaka’s screenplays have placed in multiple contests, including: Second Rounder in the 2014 Austin Film Festival (AFF) Screenplay Competition Drama category, Semi-Finalist for the 2014 Bluecat Screenplay Competition, and Second Rounder in the Comedy Category in the 2013 Austin Film Festival (AFF) Screenplay Competition.
