Portfolio Year

When navigating the writing world, it’s helpful to have a map, as well as a mentor and a cohort of writing peers to support you along the way. Welcome to the Portfolio Year!

Based on Lighthouse’s highly successful Book Project and Poetry Collective programs, the Portfolio Year features small one-year cohorts of six writers, coached by a mentor, to help each writer achieve personal and professional writing goals. Throughout the year, Portfolio Year participants will engage in regular one-on-one mentor meetings, cohort meetings, cohort classes, workshop courses, and at least one weekend festival, topped off with a Business Pass and optional agent or editor meeting at Lit Fest, our vibrant annual writing conference.

Why choose the Portfolio Year?

Accountability, community, education, and mentorship are the four essential elements for writing success. The Portfolio Year provides the structure, support, and customized curriculum you need to develop your writing.

Who is the Portfolio Year for?

Mentors will select cohorts who share a level and focus, or any number of other considerations. In other words, if you want to get serious about your writing, this program is for you.
