Writing with Cancer

In partnership with UCHealth and Colorado Associates in Medical Physics (CAMP), Writing with Cancer workshops were created at Lighthouse for those diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers. These workshops focus on generating new creative writing and also include discussions of language, the basics of craft, elements of story, and the value of having a writing practice. Participants are encouraged to connect with others in the group and to write often and freely on any subject they choose, relying on the belief that creative expression is a powerful way to help cope with the myriad emotions of a cancer diagnosis.

There are two versions of Writing with Cancer currently running:

  • Writing with Cancer in partnership with UCHealth meets virtually on the second Wednesday of each month. Participants can sign up and join at any time by calling the UCHealth Supportive Oncology line at 720-848-9266. View the full schedule of UCHealth dates here.
  • The 8-week: Writing with Cancer Cohort at Lighthouse in partnership with Colorado Associates in Medical Physics (CAMP) will meet weekly starting in April 2025. Register here for this cohort. Founded in 1988 in Colorado, CAMP continues to provide medical physics, health physics, and medical dosimetry services across the Rocky Mountain West ensuring the best possible patient care in radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging. To learn more, visit their website at www.campphysics.com or follow them on social media @CAMPphysics.
