Creative Writing Cornerstones: Online Summer Camp for ages 14-18

In this camp for teens, we’ll explore the foundations of creative writing: language, sensory details, showing rather than telling, character, plot, dialogue, and scenes. We’ll also experiment with storytelling elements including observation, perspective, and identifying your individual voice. Our primary focus will be on understanding fiction, poetry, and narrative nonfiction. Camp includes a fun mix of writing craft lessons, practice exercises, generative prompts, and optional sharing. Writers will receive first impression feedback on what’s working in pieces shared during class. This class is a great way to build your confidence, improve your writing skills, and express your creativity. All writers are welcome, whether you want to write stronger college essays, express your opinions, pen an epic poem, or begin writing a novel. No prior experience needed.
