Queer Creatives

It’s Giving…Nuance—Writing Complex Queer Narratives

October 10, 2026
We’ve all rolled our eyes at stories, movies, or tv shows that shrink Queer characters down to their most basic stereotypes. Maybe their sexuality and/or gender is their entire personality, maybe they can only exist in relation to their trauma, or better yet, they’re the token gay friend for the gorgeous, layered main character. So how do we as Queer storytellers and allies shake up the narrative and tap into the complexity we know is present in Queer lives?

Spill the Tea—Queer Creatives Faculty on Building A Creative Life

October 11, 2026
Being a person is hard, right? Being a creative person is incredibly hard. Add to these difficulties the fact that the world thrives on distracting and draining us, while also lobbing constant threats towards the Queer community, and there doesn’t seem to be much capacity left for our writing or our art. So how can we nourish our creative lives in spite of it all?
“Having this openness of community be my entire existence?!?! Okay, realistically, nothing needs to be improved here. It was lovely. I need to conjure more of this into my everyday existence.”
