Is your novel stuck in the doldrums at around page 100 (or 70 or 130)? The engine just cut out; there’s not a whisper of wind; you can see great whites circling. This two-day generative seminar aims to get you sailing again! Together, we'll discuss the possible obstacles at hand, study how other writers (such as Matt Bell, Matt Bird, James Scott Bell, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Toni Morrison) have righted the ship, and do “middle-craft” exercises to unlock the possibilities. In addition to in-class exercises, there will be voluntary homework between day one and two. Participants will leave this class with hope and concrete suggestions for the rest of their journey.
Class will meet on Sunday, January 24 and Sunday, January 31 with a 30 minute break for lunch each day.
