Maru Wood

Maru (they/he) is an art facilitator at The Art Garage Denver, creative writer and community member whose work has become inspired from their life in the south side of Chicago. In the classroom environment, Maru strives to create a structure where students are able to safely and freely express themselves with support and collaboration at the fore-front in lesson-planning. Maru's written works are often inspired by lyricism, fantasy/mythology, history and holding space for conversations from mental health to somatic self-love. Maru's poetry has been published in Twenty Bellow's "Welcoming the Muse: Meta and Other Forms" anthology, as well as Retrograde Review's website and instagram page.
