Susan Golomb

Susan Golomb has been an agent of literary fiction and non-fiction for over 30 years. She founded the Susan Golomb Literary Agency in 1988 with Jonathan Franzen as her first client and joined Writers House in 2015. Her other authors include award winners and bestsellers such as William T. Vollmann, Rachel Kushner, Yvon Chouinard, Imbolo Mbue, Noah Hawley, Angie Kim, Vauhini Vara, Nell Zink, Stephen Markley, Wayetu Moore Glen David Gold, Danielle Trussoni, Janelle Brown, Thomas Mullen, Charles Graeber, Lexi Frieman and more.

She is particularly drawn to novels that build and sustain elevated suspense—literary thrillers, psychological dramas, or slow-burn mysteries with emotionally complex characters and high personal stakes. She’s also seeking book club fiction that balances sharp wit with depth: novels that are voice-driven, thematically rich, and unafraid to be irreverent, hilarious, or bitingly observant. In general, she gravitates toward fiction with humor, heart, and a strong point of view.

For non-fiction, she gravitates toward work that is paradigm shifting, mission driven memoir or journalism with an interest in environmentalism, business, social change and social justice, and psychology. She is particularly looking for groundbreaking work on animal intelligence and behavior.
