4-Week: Shuffle the Deck—Chance, Constraint, and the Accidental Narrative

What happens when we give up just enough control to surprise ourselves? In this generative workshop, we’ll use tarot cards, chance operations, found language, unusual constraints, and acts of random selection to disrupt our habitual ways of writing. A tarot card might determine who enters a scene. A shuffled stack of fragments might reveal an unexpected sequence. A found sentence might become the hinge around which an essay turns. Through readings, craft discussion, and playful experiments across fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and hybrid forms, we’ll explore the tension between accident and intention. The goal is not to surrender authorship, but to create conditions in which the work can become stranger than what we might have planned.
