8-Week: Intermediate Nonfiction

This class is geared toward writers who have completed Intro to Writing the Personal Narrative and Memoir or Creative Nonfiction 101, or have taken an intermediate nonfiction workshop, and who are looking to hone their writing with deeper and more specific discussions of the craft of narrative nonfiction. Readings each week will expand writers’ exposure to the broad field of creative nonfiction with an emphasis on research, structure, voice, character, and sense of place. Classes will consist of discussions of the week’s assigned reading, short lectures, writing exercises, and guided workshops with peers. This course is appropriate for any writers working in any form of narrative nonfiction, from lyric essays to criticism to magazine features to memoir.
