Stuck on how to revise your short story or novel? Craving different perspectives on your work? Bored of the typical workshopping critique format? In this course, we’ll undergo unique revision exercises to refuel your imagination and refresh your short story or novel chapters. After eight weeks, you’ll have a deeper understanding of your story, new ideas for where to take your piece, and greater ease with sharing your work. Exercises will focus on world-building, plot, character, and line edits.
Though all levels are welcome, you must have a short story over 8000 words or most chapters of a novel completed to participate in this class.
Writers will be expected to prepare a presentation of their story for the class—this can include reading from your work and a short description of the plot and characters. Each class will open with a presentation, then allow for audience questions and comments, then move into revision exercises with in-class writing time.
