Scene Mapping

How do you make sure that each individual scene in your book is well-crafted, progresses the story, and doesn't feel boring? In this class, we'll discuss the craft of a scene both in terms of pacing and how it serves the larger story, world, and character arcs. We'll examine memorable scenes from Mrs. Bridge by Evan S. Connell and The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin to learn new techniques. Participants taking this class can expect pre-class home reading, lectures, and guided discussions.
