Everyone agrees worldbuilding is central to good speculative fiction, but what does that mean? Maps of fantasy worlds? Genealogy charts of royal families? Hours of historical research? All that can be part of worldbuilding, but this class will ask the writer to consider well-crafted character as the engine behind worldbuilding. Through writing exercises and interactive storytelling, we'll spend our time together crafting a shared world and learning tips and tricks to apply to one's own weaving of speculative worlds.
