Writing in Color is a community writing program created by and for Black and Brown writers in Colorado and beyond. The goal of this program is to support BIPOC+ (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) writers and creatives as they focus on their writing practice by fostering a supportive and encouraging community. We ask that all participants be mindful of this intention; anyone who is disruptive may be asked to leave.
As writers, we know how important it is to also be a reader. For this month’s Writing in Color meetup, we’re putting away our laptops and pens, and picking up our books for a cozy evening of reading and community at Lighthouse. Join us at 6 PM in the Lighthouse cafe for fall appetizers and cozy drinks while we get to know each other a bit. At 6:30 PM we’ll pick a cozy spot in the building—yes, we have couches and a fireplace!—and just read together for an hour. We’ll have bookmark making supplies (including some fun charms and dried flowers!) as well.
BYOB (bring your own books),—or grab one from the Lighthouse shelves—blankets, pillows, and anything to help you feel comfy and cozy while we read in community!
