Writing for Wellness Series: Finding Inner Literary Refuge

What can Buddhism teach us about writing and burnout? Many of us have experienced burnout in our writing. Maybe it came as a result of multiple publishing rejections, a workshop or feedback that didn't quite fit what we were looking for, or just a general lack of inspiration. The good news is, we don't have to stay burnt out. There are strategies and principles that we can use to get back in touch with our storytelling spark. Using anti-racist pedagogy, generative writing exercises, and mindfulness principles, this class will explore what it looks like to find our inner literary refuge.

This course is part of our Writing for Wellness program, which focuses on the relationship between the creative act of writing and wellbeing. While we may look at craft during these programs, our focus will be on writing that supports ourselves as human beings.
