Writing for Wellness Series: Writing with the Body In Mind

$75.00 Members

Writing is often treated as a purely cognitive act, but for many of us, the creative spark arrives as a felt sense before it ever becomes a thought. Sadly, many of us have been taught to ignore that sense, or we feel it but don't quite know how to follow it through to the page, even though our bodies hold material that our thinking minds can't always reach. In this two-hour workshop, we'll use somatic (body-based) practices, including breathwork, movement, and guided imagery, to explore how to get unstuck, how to move through fear and self-doubt mid-draft, and how to access the kind of openness that honest writing requires. We'll leave this class with practices to support our creative processes and deepen our relationships with our bodies as creative allies.

This course is part of our Writing for Wellness program, which focuses on the relationship between the creative act of writing and wellbeing. While we may look at craft during these programs, our focus will be on writing that supports ourselves as human beings.
