What makes a great novel? An unmistakable voice, an opening that pulls you in and a plot that keeps you there, vivid action, crackling dialogue, a world you want to stay in, and characters that live in your head long after turning the last page. It’s a tall order for any writer. So how do you do it?
In this intermediate novel class, we’ll explore these concepts and more through assigned readings, in-class lectures, and, most importantly, reading and critiquing excerpts of your own novels-in-progress. You’ll receive detailed, constructive feedback on your pages from the instructor and your peers. And you’ll come away with a clear idea of how to take your project further.
