Lighthouse is excited to welcome Dr. Terence Keel, author of The Coroner's Silence: Death Records and the Hidden Victims of Police Violence, for a special book talk and conversation following our September Friday 500 event.
In The Coroner's Silence, Dr. Keel covers his "landmark investigation into forensic medicine that exposes the systematic concealment of state-sanctioned violence through death investigations."
This event will feature readings by Dr. Keel, followed by a conversation with Lighthouse community member and Co-CEO of the Center for African American Health, Deidre Johnson. Together, they'll discuss what Dr. Keel's writing and research process was like and the overall impact of his work.
Join us earlier in the afternoon before Friday 500 for Dr. Keel's craft seminar, Impossible Stories from an Untrustworthy Past. Copies of The Coroner's Silence: Death Records and the Hidden Victims of Police Violence will be available for purchase.
