Rebecca Roanhorse has perfected what it means to build worlds and mythologies that feels both ancient and urgent, surreal and rooted. Tapping into both her lived experiences and sprawling portrayals of Indigenous lore in futuristic settings, Rebecca has fought against the boundaries many writers have faced when it comes to exploring the fantastical. Her writing crosses multiple mediums, from her most recent short story collection spanning several speculative subgenres to her time in the writers rooms of FX and Marvel shows.
Join us for an onstage reading of Rebecca’s work, followed by a conversation between Rebecca and fellow author and finalist for the Octavia E. Butler Award, Theodore McCombs. Afterwards, you can join Rebecca and others at our Spec Fest: After Dark reception.
