We want to create a home for the reader, an intimacy that captivates and draws them deep into the interior of the story, which is also the interior of the author, which is also the interior of the world. The architect Luis Barragán said, "It is essential to an architect to know how to see--to see in such a way that vision is not overpowered by rational analysis." John Berger said, "When we read a story, we inhabit it. The covers of the book are like a roof and four walls. What is to happen next will take place within the four walls of the story. And this is possible because the story's voice makes everything its own." In this innovative approach to workshop, our time will be split between generative work that honors intuition, highly-targeted craft analysis, and targeted feedback designed to elevate your own strengths and build intimacy with your reader.
Note: All reading and feedback of your peers will take place during class time, not outside. Outside of class will be dedicated to craft, reading, generation and revision that pertains to your own work.
Registration for this course will go live to the public on July 22.
