Unlocking the Unlocked Door—Writing Dream Poems

"The dream is the small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul," wrote Carl Jung, declaring the importance of dreams in accessing our innermost selves. Poets ranging from Gary Soto to Wislawa Szymborska have used dream poems as portals into deeper, emotional truths. In this generative workshop we'll read dream poems written by established poets and craft our own dream poems to access memories and archetypes, as well as unexpected language, imagery, and logic. Whether an avid or occasional dreamer, you’ll gain practical tools for harnessing the mysterious world of dreams in your poetry.
