You can access our full building accessibility guide here.
Designated Parking
There are three designated parking spots in the building's parking lot. All are officially marked and accessible.
Wheelchair and Mobility Access
Lighthouse Writers Workshop is located at 3844 York Street in the Clayton/Cole neighborhood of Denver. The Lighthouse building is accessible to people using wheelchairs. The main entrance to the building has an automated door opener. An elevator travels to all three floors of the building. Seating is wheelchair-accessible in Lighthouse classrooms, lounge/cafe spaces, and Beacon Hall. Our restrooms, lounges, cafe, and Beacon Hall are wheelchair-accessible.
CART and Caption Services
CART services (live, real-time transcription) are often available upon request. Please email us at [email protected] with enough notice (at least two weeks) so that we can arrange this service. There are always options in Zoom livestreams and classes for automated captions, which we know are not always perfect.
Service Animals
Lighthouse complies with all applicable laws and regulations regarding service Animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and any state and local laws. Additional information can be found here. Service animals generally are those that have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Pets that serve as non-therapeutic companions are not considered service animals.
Website: Screen Readers
Lighthouse’s website is designed to work with screen readers. We are currently working on improving the overall accessibility of the website.
Wellness Room
Nursing parents who would prefer a private space to nurse their child or pump, can find the wellness room on the 2nd floor office area. Head through the office space doors and turn to the right (walk through the admin supply room). This room can also be used for those who need a low sensory space/sensory break.
The Wellness room can also be used by Lighthouse attendees who may be feeling overstimulated while attending a workshop or event.
The Wellness room might not be available at certain times. Please check with Lighthouse staff for the schedule of availability.
Tuition Assistance
Lighthouse is committed to maintaining an inclusive and equitable environment. To this end, we strive to remove barriers, including financial ones, to participation in our workshops. Writership tuition assistance helps people join our programs and advance their skills as writers using funds allocated by grants or donated by other Lighthouse members and supporters.
Restrooms
All-gender, accessible restrooms are located on all three floors of Lighthouse.
Please contact the Lighthouse if you have any questions or requests regarding accessibility.
