Sure, the people who populate your work are central to its meaning, be it in fiction, nonfiction, even poetry. But in some way, almost all writing is also about place, about our relationship to a city, a country, and how the conditions of those places affect our characters. In some of the best writing, place is a character. In this craft course, we'll explore how to make a place—a bedroom, a neighborhood, a tavern, a region, and so on—come alive.
Writers in this course can expect in-class exercises, first-blush verbal feedback, and engaged consideration of handouts. All levels are welcome.
