8-Week: Immersive Nonfiction

How fully can we understand the experiences of other people? As writers, how can and should we convey our view of those experiences? In this workshop, we’ll study techniques used in literary and immersive journalism and discuss how they can be applied to all forms of creative nonfiction. The heart of the course will be a workshop of contributors’ work, supplemented by readings. During the class, we'll discuss challenges that can arise—from technical to ethical ones—when reporting, telling, and sharing true stories.
