"What do you write?"
Writers dread this question—because we haven't been trained to talk about it. This workshop utilizes the tools and traditions of art school and the Artist Statements of visual artists to help writers understand why they write what they do, what subjects they're interested in, and their vision of what they want their writing to do in the world. Through generative writing exercises and creative thought experiments, we'll examine our own identities as writers and better understand the work we do and why we do it. Participants will leave the workshop with a clearer sense of their own artistic identity and a meaningful, non-boring author bio that truly acts as a calling card and not just a panicky placeholder.
