In this workshop, participants will examine profound moments from their own memories with a focus on concision and brevity. We will read and discuss sample texts and discuss approaches to imagery, economy of language, narrative, and tools from both poetry and prose to create compelling personal narratives in 500 words or less.
This class is part of the Writing in Color Fest and is open to writers of all genres and creatives who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC+). The goal of the Fest is to provide a space for writers of color to be in community and thrive as they grow their writing skills.
